Finding the right romantic gifts
for men can be a pleasant challenge. Sometimes multiple gifts can be
the answer, because creative combinations can send just the right
message.
Pehaps a purchased romantic gift or two could be offered along with an
item that you make. For example, you could write a romantic poem and
frame it, or prepare his favorite meal with plenty of flourishes like
music he enjoys and fancy candles.
If he's wild about good food, you can set up a special dinner by first
sending a gourmet food and wine basket to his office with a romantic
note indicating that this gift is just an appetizer.
Another tie in to a candelight dinner, at home or in a restaurant,
would be the surprise of afterwards attending a concert or play that
matches his interests.
When considering romantic gifts for men, be careful. While cologne and
neckties are okay, they don't zero in on the man's true nature. They
will hardly be memorable.
The whole idea is to focus on what truly gets him excited or energized.
If that means joining him for a day of rock climbing or wind surfing,
even though you are a bit nervous about such sports, then so be it.
He will greatly appreciate your courage in trying something he feasts
on and his admiration for you will move up a notch. Now that's romantic!
If he's a sports fan, you could take him to a game then later on
present him with a related book or magazine. For a book purchase, try
to find an item that he would be unlikely to lavish on himself, such as
a heavily illustrated history of the sport.
Give some serious thought to his
interests and be creative. Try the
mind mapping technique, where you start with a key word then come up
with other concepts that are related.
For example, if he likes the outdoors or parks or gardens, you might
make the mental leap to giving him an easy-care bonsai plant that will
enliven his office space. Then arrange for a picnic to a pleasant park
or river side spot.
Or, if he likes cycling, you could purchase a DVD about the Tour de
France while also scheduling a bike trip for the two of you that
culminates in a picnic or restaurant meal. He doesn't have to know your
culinary destination. Just be sure he's hungry when he gets there.
The more original and creative you can be, while still staying within
his interests, the more impressed he's likely to be. Your aim is to
convince him that you have made an extra effort to consider and cater
to his passions.
If you succeed, it will not be the actual gifts, no matter how
expensive, that bowls him over. It will be your demonstration that you
are tuned in to who he really is and went the extra mile to offer gifts
that would make him happy. Nothing could be more romantic.
